Council is responding to petition concerns
FOLLOWING the petition calling for parking and traffic calming measures in the Stratford Road area of Warwick, County Cllr Peter Butlin, the highways and transport chef has responded that plans for more double yellow lines are already in the pipeline.
But Cllr Butlin pointed out: “The number of collisions recorded at Stratford Road is lower than many other sites in Warwickshire and, while every collision and injury is regrettable, any traffic calming enineering will be prioritised in other locations with a considerably worse collision history.
“Our focus is on using innovative ways of tackling speeding traffic through education, engineering, enforcement.”
He said: “Given the level of concern about the speed of traffic raised in the petition, we have arranged for a number of temporary ‘Slow Down’ signs to be installed along the Stratford Road to remind road users of the speed limit which should go some way to addressing the problem.”
