A 24-year-old apprentice from Kenilworth has won an award.
Edward Pethwick was one of the apprentices from Coventry and Warwickshire celebrating following the regional West Midlands ceremony of the National Apprenticeship Awards 2014.
The winners and highly commended entries were announced at the prestigious awards ceremony on September 16 at the Mitchells & Butler training headquarters in Birmingham.
Edward, an engineering apprentice at Mondelez International’s Bournville chocolate factory, took home the regional Advanced Apprentice of the Year award.
He said: “Three years ago I left education with good grades but no relevant work experience. My apprenticeship has given me the experience and skills I need for the workplace and the opportunity to progress onto the company’s ‘future leaders’ programme.
“I’m currently working towards my foundation degree and I’m looking forward to my final year.”
The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their 11th year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service.
