A-level results are in from our schools

The 98 Year 13 students at North Leamington School’s Sixth Form Centre achieved an overall pass rate of 98 per cent and an A* to B pass rate of 49 per cent.

The vast majority of subjects examined achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

The school’s Year 12 students also did very well with current figures showing they have exceeded their targets and further improvement upon last year’s results.

North Leamington School’s Headteacher, Joy Mitchell, said:“I am delighted with the continued improvement in performance year on year of students at NLS; particularly the increase in A* - B grades. This year’s A-Level students have again produced excellent results that have improved further on last year’s results. These results reflect the hard work and commitment of both students and their teachers and will stand our students in good stead for university entrance, apprenticeships and employment prospects.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students, their parents and staff for their contribution in achieving these excellent results.”

Warwick School once again enjoyed excellent A-level results in the school’s 1,100th anniversary year.

Just under 60 per cent of grades recorded were A* or A grades. Thirteen students recorded either three or more A* grades, 41 students achieved only A* and A grades and 48 students achieved three or more As and A*s.

Headteacher Gus Lock said: “These are, once again very good results indeed and I congratulate our students on another impressive year. Such results would not be possible without a great deal of sustained hard work, both on the part of our pupils and by my colleagues, whom I thank most sincerely.

“We are all incredibly proud of this year group who have achieved so much, both academically and in a wide range of other fields, and I wish them every success and happiness as they move on to the next stage in their education.”

Wai Hang Siu gained four A*s and a further A grade, with the following five boys gaining four A*s: James Bird, Tze Fung Chiu, Benjamin Lavelle, Robert Loveridge and Ryan Yeung.

A school spokeswoman added that there are strong hopes for additional successes once the results for the STEP papers in maths are released.

Girls from King’s High in Warwick celebrated a flourish of A* grades with a pass rate from A* to B hitting 82.2 percent.

And 43 percent of the 86 candidates came away with all A or A* grades.

A total of 35 girls achieved one or more A*s and 40.7 percent received at least one A*.

Pupils, Imogen Rhodes and Alison Weaving, achieved the highest results with four A* each.

Three girls achieved three A*s each, and a further five earnt at least four A* or A grades.

Headteacher Elizabeth Surber congratulated all students and teachers on their success and the hard work to make it all happen.

“It is extremely important to us that each girl flourishes, working to realise her individual potential, and it is that individual achievement which we celebrate at King’s every day,” she said.

Southam College once again celebrated record-breaking ‘A’ Levels results this year with 100 per cent A*-E pass rate, a new school record, and over 57 per cent of all grades being A*-B.

Assistant Headteacher Keith Bradbury said: “A-levels require a huge amount of dedication and hard work from students and teachers. We are all really proud of all the results that have been achieved and wish students every success in the future’.

Headteacher Ranjit Samra added: “At a time of so much change in education these results are testament to the fantastic attitude of our students and the support they receive from their teachers and families.”

All of the A-level pupils at Aylesford School achieved a pass grade. Headteacher Steve Hall said: ‘We are extremely pleased for all students who entered for their final A-level exams this summer as 100 per cent of them achieved a pass grade in their chosen subjects.

“The outcomes reflect their commitment and endeavour, the support of their families and the dedication of their teachers. The school is delighted that it has been able to act as a springboard into the future for our most senior students.”

Kenilworth sixth formers have been congratulated on “well-deserved success” by staff after reaching another set of “excellent” A-level results.

A total of 12 percent of exams at the school were passed at A*, and 32 percent graded A*, A or B this summer.

All 187 A-level candidates achieved at least one A level pass at A*-E.

Staff at Castle Sixth Form have congratulated all pupils, with special mention to twins Julie and Rachel Emmerson who took away seven A*s between them, and Gabriel and Isaac Saxon-Knight who achieved seven A* or A grades.

Top achievers were named as: Aine Bennett (3 A*), Elizabeth Davies (2 A*, 2 A) Eloise Davise (3 A*), Atilla Emin (2 A*, 2 A), Julie Emmerson (4 A*), Rachel Emmerson (3 A*), Rachel Knott (3 A*, 1 A) and Finlay Ryburn (4 A*).

School head teacher Hayden Abbott said: “Sixth formers have once again achieved superb A-level results and they are to be congratulated on their well-deserved success this summer.

“We are very proud of their achievements and wish them good luck as they progress to the next stage of their education or career.”

Leamington’s Warwickshire College students picked up another ‘outstanding’ set of A-level results, improving on last year’s pass rate.

Students bettered last year’s figure with a 98.4 percent pass rate overall.

The teenagers across the college’s two centres achieved a 100 percent pass rate in 16 subjects including English, Physics, Accounting and Economics.

AS-level students also achieved better results in their exams with overall marks up over four percent from last year.

Girls at The Kingsley School in Leamington have achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s A-level exams with 82 per cent at grades A* to C.

Kingsley’s headteacher Heather Owens said: “Once again we are celebrating a 100 per cent pass rate at A Level and Kingsley girls have gained places at a range of universities from Cambridge to Canada. Such success takes a huge amount of commitment and hard work from students and staff and I am immensely proud of them all.”

Trinity School headteacher Chris Gabbett said: “I’m so proud, not only of the achievements that have come out of Trinity, but also of the successes in all of our central Warwickshire state schools.

“Huge thanks go out to all of our talented teachers and supportive parents, but most of all to our students, whose determination, tenacity and talent have yielded such wonderful results.

“I’m celebrating every single student who has worked hard toward their own educational goals, but I want to give a special commendation to those Trinity students who have secured themselves places at the prestigious Oxbridge universities.”

Myton School’s headteacher Paul McIntyre said: “At Myton we are very happy for our students at A-level this year, although our precise results as a school will not be known for a couple of weeks.

“We are pleased to have maintained our very high standards from last year. All of our students who got offers from university or an apprenticeship will be able to take up these fabulous opportunities, with students achieving entry to Oxford, Cambridge, medical school and universities both here and abroad.

“We would like to congratulate all of our students, the governors and staff are justifiably proud of their achievements. They deserve their successes and we wish them well as they progress to their chosen university or career. They will always be members of the Myton family.”

Campion School has achieved its best ever A Level results with a 100% pass rate. 96% of Year 13 students achieved at least 3 A*- E grades at A level or equivalent subjects. 46% of all entries were graded A* or A, and 81% were graded A*-C. Several students will move on to undergraduate courses at top universities.

Students in Year 12 performed very well, achieving a 95% pass rate in AS levels and are on track to achieve very good results in their final A2 Levels examinations in 2015.

Headteacher Mark Feldman said, “I am delighted for our Year 13 students who have worked so hard and achieved so much. Our students benefit from very good teaching, small class sizes and excellent relationships. We are pleased and proud that so many of our students will now progress to top universities or very good jobs.”

Many of Campion’s Year 13 students go on to study at top universities, or begin competitive apprenticeships as well as entering into employment. Denicia Bernard achieved an outstanding 4A*s, in English Literature, Psychology, Music and Drama, and is hoping to secure a place at Oxbridge in 2015 while Kara Singleton will begin at Sheffield University next year after achieving 1 A* and 2 B grades. Ryan Duncan was awarded 2 A*s and a B grade and will go to Bournemouth to study Computing and Imogen Head will begin a Psychology degree after achieving an A grade in Psychology, a B grade in Mathematics and a C in Drama.

At Princethorpe College, students are celebrating

Out of 88 students. 30 percent received A* or A gradesm with over 60 percent of all grades marked at a minimum of grade B.

Head teacher, Ed Hester, said: “These results show another increase on last year’s record with more students achieving the very highest grades.

“This is a year group which has worked exceptionally hard and I am delighted they have been rewarded for their efforts. We all wish them well for the future.”

Lucy Marlow became the first student from Kineton High School in its history to gain a place at an Oxbridge University: she will start at Pembroke College, Oxford in October.

Along with a number of other students, in particular Jack Zuliani (A*, A, A, A,) and Amy Bowskill (A, A, A, A, B), Lucy achieved top grades in her A levels (A*,A*, A, B).

Headteacher Julia Morris said: “We are very proud that, once again, Kineton High School has achieved exceptional results across the board and this is thanks to the dedication of staff and students and the support given by parents, with everyone aiming high and working hard together as a team.”
