Police have urged elderly people to be vigilant after a bogus water board employee tricked his way into a Warwick woman's home last week.
The man claiming to be from “the water board” arrived at the home of an 84-year-old woman at around 8.40am on August 15. Once inside he looked in cupboards, but it is not clear whether he checked the woman’s meter. Nothing was stolen.
The man is d
escribed as white, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall, slim and aged between 30 and 40. He was wearing a smart brown shirt and dark trousers and was not carrying any identification.
Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in The Butts on Friday or has any other information.

l A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said householders should not let anyone into their homes unless they know who they are or are bona fide company representatives.
She reminded residents of the doorstep code:
l Always put the security chain on before opening it.
l Ask the caller who they are and where they are from.
l Ask to see identification.
l Check with the company they claim to represent using a number from the telephone directory, not the one on the card.
If you have any doubts make an appointment for the caller to come back when you will be able to have a friend or relative with you. Genuine callers will understand and will be happy to comply with these arrangements.
