Warwickshire has more than two months' supply of grit to cover icy roads, but drivers should still be careful in freezing conditions.
This is the message from Warwickshire County Council, which is responsible for all public roads except motorways in the county.

The authority sends out gritting lorries along all main routes if ice is forecast.

This includes A roads, most B roads and some other 'strategic' routes, hospital and main industrial estate entrances and a single route into all villages.

A spokesman explained grtting lorries were making regular evening trips and the council had recently topped up its supply and had enough to last 74 days, following a shortage during heavy snow in February.
