Our 15-month-old grandson William is our favourite entertainer! The William Show is free. And it seems like he has a new trick for every visit!
A few weeks ago it was hiding behind an armchair - and we would ask "Where's William?". He would jum
p out, flash a big smile, and we would all exclaim excitedly "There he is!"
More recently, all we have to say is, Where's William? and he promptly puts both his little hands over his face. Of course, he's peeking between his fingers a little bit.
I guess he thinks he's hiding. Then, he pulls his hands away and shrieks with surprise and excitement. And we respond on cue, There he is! He loves it - and so do we!
But let me let you into a little secret. The whole time William thinks he's hiding - we know where he is!
This started me thinking about my little games of hide-and-seek with God. I cover my face and think He doesn't know where I am - but He knows all the time.
The Bible says that 'nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight' (Hebrews 4: 13).
Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
There is nothing of which God is unaware. Nothing I have done that God hasn't seen; nothing I have thought that God hasn't heard; and nothing that I am that God isn't aware of.
If this feels a bit scary, try looking at it from a different angle. It means that you can experience the wonderful freedom of coming to Christ as you really are.
With all the barriers down, you can meet with the Saviour whose love is totally unconditional!
Give it a try!
