A BRAND new production of the magical fantasy tale, Sleeping Beauty, is on at the Dream Factory in Warwick.

The Playbox Theatre is drawing on many threads of the well-known tale from across the centuries in its production, which opened at its theatre in Shelley Avenue last Thursday and runs until Tuesday January 2.

The company’s founding director Mary King said: “When the princess awakens, it’s only half way through the story and some really strange events happen after her marriage.

“We’ve got the expanded and original story – a first.

“With text, movement, spectacular costumes and the fabulous atmosphere of the Dream Factory, Sleeping Beauty is a show to excite the whole family at Christmas.”

Sixteen-year-old Lucy Doyle plays the Princess Aurora, leading a company of more than 40 actors from across the Midlands.

The designs are by Playbox Theatre’s design team Commedia, with lighting and effects design by Ian Roberts.

Running alongside the show is a front-of-house installation, Frost Fair, with a reconstructed frozen river to add to the Christmas festivities.

Tickets cost £12.50 or £8.50 concessions. Call 419555 ext 2 or go online
