IT'S a pity that your editorial team chose to report the debate about my solar panels as if it were a big bust up (Courier, August 1).
I was there, as was your reporter Robert Collins, and it was a very civilised and thoughtful discussion. You quote the Liberal Democrat members, and Alan Rhead who spoke up positively for the Conservatives, but fail to quote the two Labour members wh
o also spoke strongly in favour.

It is unfortunate therefore that you choose to quote the two members of the Conservative Party who clearly have not, despite the urgings of David Cameron, got to grips with the seriousness of the looming catastrophe of climate change.

In the end the vote was two from each political party, and that in itself must be a first - putting aside political division in order to vote for the necessary change to produce electricity from sunlight.
The panels will go up in September with a full array of instruments to measure the input, and people will be welcome to come and see for themselves. Even on a cloudy rainy day like today there will still be enough electricity generated to run most of my household appliances. And when the sun shines and more electricity is generated than I can use, the excess will go to the grid and will supply others with green electricity.

I believe that after three years, not only will the technology be well proven, but people will have got used to seeing it on the wall and will not wish to have it removed. - Janet Alty, Lillington Road, Leamington.
