Michael Wolverson, seven, and sister Hannah, nine, swept the board in the homecrafts section of the popular county show last year, with Michael's pheasant made from vegetables and Hannah's combine harvester made from recycled materials, earning admiration from judges and visitors alike.

Mum Linda Wolverson, who has also achieved past success as best novice in the floral class as well as being highly commended for her sloe gin, said: "It is a fabulous event retaining many of the well-loved traditions of a true country show.

"As a family we have been entering the homecrafts section for about three years and always look forward to the judges' comments."

Hannah and her 16-year-old horse Rusty will also be taking part in the working hunter show jumping and novelty fancy dress classes in the equine section, which attracts top riders from across the country.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend this year's show, to take place on a 50-acre site at Hurst Farm in Crackley Lane, Kenilworth.

Organised by the Kenilworth and District Agricultural Society, the show includes livestock, rural activities and demonstrations, jousting, local food fayre suppliers, vintage machinery and mounted games.

Adult homecraft classes cost 50 pence to enter and include floral art, potted plants, homebaking, preserves, wine, handicrafts and photography.

Children's classes are free and fall into three categories; under sevens, under 12s and under 16s and include best decorated wellington, a computer generated party invitation and best tray bake.
