More than 2,000 women came together to run, walk or jog 5km round Warwick Racecourse this week in this year's Race For Life.
Organisers were expecting to beat their target of raising £200,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Vikki Savery helped manage the event. She said: "It went really, really well. Lots of people dressed up - we had pink wigs, pink feather boas and people dressed as horses - so it was quite a spectacle.

"Last week we did another event and it rained all day, but this time we were so lucky with the weather - it was beautiful.

"The last to cross the finish line on Tuesday was a group of four women who were tied together - they were running with five legs between them so they must have been pretty hot in the sun."

But she added: "We need people to submit sponsorship money as soon as possible. One in three people do not hand in their money - just as one in three will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. We need to reduce both these statistics."

A team of 60 employees and customers of the Leamington and Solihull branches of Fabulous Designer Jewellery took part in the race on Wednesday and raised more than £2,000.

The Solihull branch's retail supervisor Krisha Barker said: "We all really enjoyed it and there was a good social atmosphere - everyone was chatting and mingling together.

"We're definitely going to do it again and will probably make it an annual event."

Donations can be submitted online at www.raceforlife.org or send a cheque made payable to Cancer Research UK to Race for Life, PO Box 442, Northampton NN3 6UU.

Men and women are invited to take part in Cancer Research UK's next event - a 10km run at Coombe Abbey in Coventry on September 7.

Anyone wishing to apply should do so as soon as possible as places are limited. Visit www.cancerresearchuk.org
