Audiences will experience spooky thrills in the Talisman Theatre's production of The Ghost Train.
The company will pay homage to Arnold Ridley's 1920s comic thriller which has become a stage classic.
Producer Chris Ward,, who first worked on the play in 1984, has opted to use a dozen people with household objects to create the noise of the spectral steam engine.
He said: "When we did the effect the first time round two girls in the audience got up - I think they thought the train was going to come right through the audience. Afterwards people were desperate to know how it was done so we charged them a small fee to come backstage and watch the effect in action."
The Ghost Train tells the tale of a group of weary travellers, stranded at a remote station with nothing except a ghost story to keep them occupied.
Events take a strange turn and things do not appear as they seem as weird noises are heard and faces appear at the window.
Chris said: "I first saw the play at a village hall when I was at school and I was bitten by it then."
The production runs from Saturday until August 30.. Tickets cost £7 on week nights and £7.50 at weekends. Discounts are available for members.
