Volunteer-run co-op continues food bag scheme
PEOPLE in Leamington and surrounding areas can make sure they are meeting their five-a-day target without breaking the bank, thanks to the South Warwickshire Local Food Co-operative.
Volunteers at the venture pack a selection of seasonal vegetables and fruit into bags each week for people to collect.
Small bags cost £2.50, while large ones cost £4 and each contains around five kinds of vegetables and two kinds of fruit, supplied by Leamington grocer Richard Clarke.
Packing and collection takes place at the Sydni Centre in Cottage Square, Sydenham, Lillington Children’s Centre in Mason Avenue, Lillington and Racing Club Warwick in Hampton Road, Warwick. People can also collect their bags at other points, including Whitnash Children’s Centre in Nursery Lane, Whitnash, Kingsway Children’s Centre in Baker Avenue, Leamington, St Patrick’s Primary School in Cashmore Avenue, Leamington, Westgate Primary School in Bowling Green Street, Warwick and the Open Door Cafe in Slade Hill, Hampton Magna.
