CAMPION School’s debating team have been rewarded for arguing their case well in a national competition.

The pupils put the case across that education was more than just achieving good exam results and finished runners-up in the area final of the event organised by TeachFirst .

Their prize was an expenses-paid trip to London where they attended a series of debates at the Challenge 2012 event held at the Royal Festival Hall in South Bank last month.

They discussed issues including the dangers of stereotyping, the challenges of forthcoming changes to GCSEs and the problems of moving on to further and higher education.

They also visited some of the capital’s attractions.
