Help to secure Coten End Youth Centre’s future
TWO men who helped save the Coten End Youth Centre from closure have set up a not-for-profit Social Enterprise Company to protect its future.
Roger Bennett and David Skinner will be holding a public meeting early in the new year to enlist the support of more volunteers when they and other supporters officially take over the running of the youth centre in Emscote Road, which was set to close as part of county council cuts.
Both men are govenors at nearby Coten End Primary School but other members who have taken an interest in the new company are simply interested local residents who want to protect the venue which offers not only youth activities but dance classes, kick boxing, art and theatre workshops as well as clubs for those with disabilities.
Mr Skinner said: “We will be giving a full progress report on January 17 when we are organising a meeting and would be glad to welcome anybody new who would like to get involved with this project. We will need fundraisers, admin worker and volunteer stewards among others.”
