CHURCHES, schools, businesses, members of the Armed Forces and many others from Kineton and surrounding areas ended more than two months of sporting endeavor to mark the Olympics.

A special ceremony was held at Compton Verney to close the Edgehill Games, in which hundreds of people had participated in a range of competitions including cycling, swimmming, golf, football, tennis, rugby, hockey, raft racing, running, tug-of-war and pub games.

Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright presented medals to winners - the overall winner being Kineton.

Organiser Barry Jackson said: “The aim of the games was to have fun and get the community together. They have certainly achieved that.”
