A CHARITY worker has raised more than £1,000 to help physically and mentally disabled people across Warwickshire by climbing 9,800 ft.

Joanne Cole took on the Three Peaks Challenge of trekking up the highest points of England, Wales and Scotland to raise funds for Stoneleigh-based charity Independent Advocacy, where she works.

The charity offers support to vulnerable adults across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull by acting as advocates and appointees for them on topics including housing, benefits issues, parental support, mediation and finances.

Joanne, a lead mental health advocate, covered 42 km and climbed 9,800 ft by climbing Scarfell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis. Her fundraising total is currently £1,300, with more expected to come in.

She would like to thank Lloyds TSB, businesses from around the area - including Angel Solicitors of Coventry, Debbie Anderson of Moore and Tibbits of Warwick, her climbing guide Simon Ogunlana and Julie Earls and fellow colleagues at Independent Advocacy for their contributions and support.
