Charitable students are honoured

KINETON High School pupils have been nationally recognised for their charity work in an awards scheme.

Beth Carter, Fred Hammond, Oliver Lloyd and Jamie Woodward were all selected as recipients of the Diana Award 2012, which is presented to young people for outstanding achievements each year.

The four youngsters were selected because of fundraising they carried out in the school last year which resulted in raising almost £6,000 for four charities.

Headteacher Julia Morris said: “We are extremely proud of all of our sixth form students, who work so hard to organise our annual charity week.

“Year on year I am amazed by the commitment of Kineton students to helping others and the amount of money the students manage to raise for their good causes.

“I am delighted that these students have been recognised with a Diana Award. They are an inspiration to us all.”

The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Award for Inspirational Young People was established in 1999 by a board chaired by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who was at the time Chancellor, who felt that the award would reflect the personal interest of Diana, Princess of Wales in supporting the outstanding achievements of young people.
