THE hard work of dedicated cancer specialists at Warwick Hospital has been recognised and celebrated.
The hospital’s Aylesford Unit for cancer patients, which opened in 2008, recently received the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark and also achieved the highest possible rating in the charity’s awards scheme.
And last Friday, members of the board at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, and its governors were joined by staff and fundraisers to celebrate the achievement.
An external review team had assessed the unit on topics such as design and use of space and the journey of the patients while in the care of the trust. They also listened to the views on the service of patients, staff, volunteers and carers.
Nurse consultant Carole Connor said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating reaching the quality mark. It is excellent to see that the hard work from all who have contributed to the unit is being acknowledged.”
