There were no bumpy rides for one Leamington firm when it was asked to translate more than one million words for Jaguar Land Rover.
Language experts Com-tec Translations, based in Brandon Parade, have translated the website of Gaydon-based Land Rover into 11 languages to help the firm attract business from across the globe.

Comtec developed a unique software tool which allowed them to translate more than one million words in less than six weeks. The technology, combined with the expertise of Comtec’s staff, allowed the company to successfully translate the website into French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, Russian, Arabic and Japanese.

Sophie Howe, general manager of Comtec, was pleased with how the project had gone.

She said: “The fact that we are being asked to carry out projects like this for a global giant such as Land Rover underlines our position as a market leader in translation and it is flattering to know how highly respected we are both nationally and internationally. We have a good team here at Comtec and we were always confident of being able to deliver the work to deadline while maintaining excellent quality standards.”

Rob Carr, internet manager for Jaguar Land Rover, said: “As a global automotive company it is critical to remain competitive online.

“Since our first localisation of the global websites in 2001, it has become increasingly important to meet strict deadlines in refreshing our online content frequently and quickly, in local languages.”
