CHRISTMAS LIGHTS WINNERS 2006
Christmas lights put up by the Smith family of Hampton Magna have been voted the best in the area.
Their home in Belham Road topped our poll of readers’ text votes which were sent in over the festive holiday.
John and Julia Smith had been nominated several times for their remarkable display.
Villager Clare Benn said the lights were a ‘fantastic range of bought and self-made decorations’.
She said her children loved to see them. The Smiths, one of ten finalists featured in the Courier and Weekly News on December 22, received 18 per cent of the popular vote and win a bottle of Courier and Weekly News champagne.
The joint runners-up were Nigel Burnette of Cromwell Place, Lighthorne Heath and Natasha Ell and her family of Box Close, Whitnash. Both polled an impressive 16 per cent of the vote.
Many thanks to all those who took time to send in nominations and to text in their votes.
