On the home front (May 2004)

This photograph shows members of the Warwickshire Royal Regiment Home Guard.

It was taken in 1944 and features the number one platoon and MG Section of the regiment's first battalion.

The picture was supplied by Jean McGaffin of Taylor Avenue, Lillington.

Her father, William Harris, is shown in the back row of the photograph on the far left.

Next to him is Albert Batchelor, who was a next door to the neighbour to the family in Taylor Avenue.

Mrs McGaffin has no other information about the photograph and cannot remember her father's part in the Home Guard as she was very young at the time.

She said: "I was only five when the Home Guard finished. But it will be interesting to see if anyone can remember it or recognises anyone in the photograph."
